Lawrence County authorities have arrested a Lawrenceburg couple charging them in the death of a four month old baby. The infant was found unresponsive and not breathing on August eighth at a Brace Road home. The baby was transported to Crockett Hospital and then to Vanderbilt. Doctors observed mysterious bruising and tests showed the infant had suffered severe brain damage. About four days later, the baby was removed from life support and succumbed to the injuries. Doctors were able to confirm that
the bruising had occurred days before the infant had been hospitalized and an autopsy found the child had suffered blunt force trauma. The death was ruled a homicide and all the evidence in the case was turned over to the D.A.’s office which presented the findings to a Grand Jury. Indictments
were returned for first degree murder and aggravated child abuse against the infant’s mother, Meagan Marie Forsythe and her boyfriend, Joshua Temple Bagwell. Both were arrested and are being held under 50 thousand dollars bond each. Forsythe’s other child is being cared for by the Department of Children’s Services and was not home when the baby fell unconscious. The investigation is on-going.
